LITANY FOR THE
UNBORN

We pray to Jesus
That unborn children may have the gift of life,
Suffering Christ Hear us.
That laws be passed to protect the right to life of the unborn,
Suffering Christ Hear us.
That our nation return to reverence and respect for all life,
Suffering Christ hear us.
That God answer the prayers of those women who seek the gift of motherhood,
Suffering Christ Hear us.
That mothers who are unable to keep their babies

We pray to Jesus that He will give special blessings and consolation to parents who are unable to keep their babies, who choose the gift of adoption, and give others the chance to share the gift of love,
Suffering Christ Hear us.

Home Enthronement of
Sacred Heart
Many families enthrone a picture or statue of the Sacred Heart in a place of honor through a special ceremony. Enthronement honors Jesus as the King and Lord of the home, and the family pledges to serve Him in loving obedience to His commandments.

For additional information on this devotion and how your home can have enthronement,   write Legion of Mary at  Radio Family Rosary, Inc., P.O. Box 17484, Phoenix, AZ 85011.  When Mother Teresa visited Phoenix in 1989, she encouraged families to participate in enthronement.
Bl. Mother Teresa’s Remedy

Mother Teresa's life and
work continue to inspire and
bring the gospel message to
the world.  Her focus was
reaching out to the poorest
of the poor on a one-on-one
basis.  Her emergency prayer
was nine Memorares plus
one more in thanksgiving.

Bl. Mother Teresa said, “It is
everyone’s responsibility to become a saint.”

What will convert America and save the
world?   “My answer is prayer. What we need
is need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in Holy Hours of prayer.

Year of Priests Commemorates
St. John Vianney

Some saints have so touched people that they are known not by the formal names used in canonization, but by familiar, affectionate titles such as: The Little Flower, Mother Cabrini, Padre Pio. And so it is with St. John-Baptist Mary Vianney, universally called The Cure of Ars. This amazing priest is a prime example of St. Paul’s observation that God chooses the weak to shame the strong (1Cor.1:27-29).

Holy and humble, John longed to be a priest, but struggled with his studies, almost unable to digest the minimum knowledge needed for ordination. God, however, supplied the inspiration and used John’s intense holiness to transform him into a priest sorely needed at his time. The ravages of the French Revolution had caused the falling away of many priests and the indifference of others.

With some reluctance on the part of his
superiors, John was ordained in 1815
because his evident piety outweighed
his limitations. He was assigned to the
remote village of Ars, where the faith had
been abandoned. Soon the village was
transformed by his holiness, kindness,
humility and teaching. His reputation as
a preacher and especially as a confessor
drew people from all over.

John spent as many as 17 hours a day
hearing confessions most of his priestly
life.  He existed mostly on boiled potatoes and managed to get an hour or so of sleep each day.  He could scarcely make his way from the church to his home, with crowds eager to see him, touch him and even snip a scrap from his cassock.  At times he scattered religious medals to disperse the crowds and clear a path.  He suffered often from the torments of Satan and he took on many penances to lessen the penances he assigned in confession.

Ars became known as a place of physical healings as well as spiritual healings, which John attributed not to himself but to St. Philomena.  He worked in partnership with her and said that she would grant a miracle whenever he asked her to.  The beloved priest became an example to all priests and is known everywhere. His penitents averaged about 100,000 per year.  At the height of his ministry he heard  about 300 confessions a day.

This year we observe the 150th anniversary of his death, August 4, 1859.  He was beatified in 1905 and canonized May 31, 1925.  His incorrupt body lies in a glass coffin in the basilica in Ars.

country with your wisdom,
understanding, and love in
these days of crisis, turmoil
and terrorism. Send forth
your Spirit to our nation
and make it a source of
strength and freedom for all.

Thank you for this land of opportunity where we can be citizens and practice our faith in freedom. Guide each of us with your faith and power.  May our leaders follow your will to direct our U. S. of America in the path of peace and safety.  Let your outstretched arm bear the beacon of light to shine on all of us and bring us under your mantle of love. Amen.

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother!
To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen.

QUOTES FOR MEDIATAION
ON ROSARY AND COMMUNION

"I have come to this holy dwelling attracted by its heavenly perfumes.  O Mystical Rose [Mary], obtain for me grace to inhale them, that I may be steeped in the aroma of the celestial virtues which emanate from the Holy Eucharist" (Concepcion Cabrera de Armida).

"My beloved Mother, it is to you, then, that I owe the happiness which I enjoy in contemplating him.  He derived the light from your eyes, the color from your cheeks, the flesh from your flesh, and a heart from your heart . . . Yes, O Mother, you gave me Jesus, the Word made Flesh, who at this moment I am contemplating in the Host." (Concepcion Cabrera de Armida)

"O Mary, without you there would be neither Holy Eucharist, nor Tabernacle. There would be no Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb, for me to adore." (Concepcion Cabrera de Armida)

Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.  I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Pray frequently during the day

The Rosary is a means of blocking out the world and opening the door to communication with God. “ - unknown

Seven Gifts of the
Holy Spirit

Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom
that I may not be attached to the
perishable things of this world,
but aspire only after the things that are eternal.

The Spirit of Understanding – to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth.

The Spirit of Counsel – that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven.

The Spirit of Fortitude – that I may bear my cross with You, and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation.

The Spirit of Knowledge - that I may know God and know myself, and grow perfect in the science of the saints.

The Spirit of Piety - that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable.

The Spirit of Fear – that I may be filled with a loving
reverence towards  God  and may avoid anything that may displease Him.

“Pray, hope and don’t worry.  Worry is useless.  God is merciful and will hear your prayers.”
- St. Padre Pio

America needs Rosary Power!

Let us offer an extra decade daily. Through history the Rosary has changed the course of events.  Elections are crucial at every level of government. In 2008, more than ever, we need the powerful intercession of Our Lady of  the Rosary to overcome evil forces working behind the scenes.

St. Padre Pio referred to the Rosary as his
“weapon.”   Let us take up our weapon on
behalf of America by praying an extra decade
of  the Rosary every day in addition to
our regular Rosary. Your choice might be the
Descent  of the Holy Spirit, to beg the Spirit’s
gift of discernment upon voters.

Remind the homebound and elderly that they
can have a vital role in shaping the future.
To our petitions we should add our prayers of
great gratitude for the countless blessings our
nation has received.
Our Lady,
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary,
pray for us.

Ask St. Michael’s Protection for Our Country

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle,  be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him,  we humbly pray; and you, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits  who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen.
   A PRAYER FOR THE DYING
        AND A SPECIAL SOUL

O MOST MERCIFUL JESUS, lover of souls,
I beseech Thee, by the agony of Thy most
Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thine
Immaculate Mother, wash clean in the Thy
Blood the sinners of the whole world who are
to die this day.

Remember most especially the soul I spiritually adopt with the intention of entrusting him or her to Thy Shepherd's care: I beseech Thee for the grace to move this sinner, who is in danger of going to Hell, to repent. I ask this because of my trust in Thy great mercy.

If it should please Thy Majesty to send me a suffering this day in exchange for the grace I ask for this soul, then, it, too, shall please me very much, and I thank Thee, Most Sweet Jesus, Shepherd and Lover of Souls; I thank Thee for this opportunity to give mercy in thanksgiving for all the mercies Thou hast shown me. Amen.
Heart of Jesus, once in agony,  have mercy on the dying.

The Memorare was Mother Teresa’s favorite emergency prayer.  She prayed it 9 times and then one more time in thanksgiving.
“Love others as God loves you
Remember, Works of love are Works of peace.”
Mother Teresa
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine.

A Pro-life Prayer for
Our President and Public Officials

Lord, God, Author of Life and Source of Eternal Life:
Move the hearts of all our public officials and especially our President, to fulfill their responsibilities worthily and well to all those entrusted to their care.

Help them in their special leadership roles, to extend the mantle of protection to the most vulnerable, especially the defenseless unborn, whose lives are threatened with extermination by an indifferent society.

Guide all public officials by your wisdom and grace to cease supporting any law that fails to protect the fundamental good that is human life itself, which is a gift from God and parents.

You are the Protector and Defender of the lives of the innocent unborn.  Change the hearts of those who compromise the call to protect and defend life. Bring our nation to the values that have made us a great nation, a society that upholds the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.

Mary, the Mother of the living, help us to bear witness to the Gospel of Life with our lives and our laws, through Christ, Our Lord.  Amen.

Imprimatur: January 22, 2009
Most Reverend Robert J. Baker
Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama

This prayer is prayed at the Masses on EWTN

A Hidden Treasure

Evil must be overcome with good.  Greater
evil must be overcome with greater good. The
extraordinary evils of the world today must
be overcome with the extraordinary good
of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration!  Your
sacrifice in spending one Holy Hour each week, especially in the middle of the night, will repair for the evils of the world and open up the floodgates of God’s merciful love upon all humankind.  This is why our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, in calling for unceasing adoration asks us to be “ready” to sacrifice that we may “make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world”              (Dominicae Cenae, Ch. I, Sec. 2, Art. 3)
Reprinted from the Missionaries of the Blessed
  Sacrament monthly publication Sept. 2001.
O Mary Bright Dawn

O Mary bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life:

Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy
.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time
.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
By Pope John Paul II March 25, 1995

"For this I am a priest: to apply the merits of the most precious blood" (St. Gaspar del Bufalo).

"To contemplate Christ involves being able to recognize Him wherever He manifests Himself in His many forms of presence, but above all in the living sacrament of His Body and His Blood. The Church draws her life from the Eucharist; by Him she is fed, and by Him she is enlightened. The Eucharist is both a mystery of faith and a 'mystery of light'" (Pope John Paul II, Servant of God, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 6).

Prayer for Priests: Gracious God, grant us holy ministers of Your altar, who are careful and fervent guardians of the Eucharist, and call forth ministers of Your mercy, who, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, spread the joy of Your forgiveness
(World Day of Prayer 2006).

Following is an excerpt from
Pope Benedict XVI's Letter to Priests

St. John Vianney "spoke of the priesthood as if incapable of fathoming the grandeur of the gift and task entrusted to a human creature: 'O, how great is the priest! ... If he realised what he is, he would die. ... God obeys him: he utters a few words and the Lord descends from heaven at his voice, to be contained within a small host'. Explaining to his parishioners the importance of the Sacraments, he would say: "Without the Sacrament of Holy Orders, we would not have the Lord. Who put Him there in that tabernacle? The priest. Who welcomed your soul at the beginning of your life? The priest. Who feeds your soul and gives it strength for its journey? The priest. Who will prepare it to appear before God, bathing it one last time in the blood of Jesus Christ? The priest, always the priest. And if this soul should happen to die [as a result of sin], who will raise it up, who will restore its calm and peace? Again, the priest. ... After God, the priest is everything! ... Only in heaven will he fully realise what he is'. These words, welling up from the priestly heart of the holy pastor, might sound excessive. Yet they reveal the high esteem in which he held the Sacrament of the Priesthood. He seemed overwhelmed by a boundless sense of responsibility: 'Were we to fully realise what a priest is on earth, we would die: not of fright, but of love. ... Without the priest, the passion and death of our Lord would be of no avail. It is the priest who continues the work of redemption on earth. ... What use would be a house filled with gold, were there no one to open its door? The priest holds the key to the treasures of heaven: it is he who opens the door: he is the steward of the good Lord; the administrator of His goods. ... Leave a parish for twenty years without a priest, and they will end by worshipping the beasts there. ... The priest is not a priest for himself, he is a priest for you.'"

November, a Holy Month
+ Month of the Holy Souls
+ Thanksgiving Day + Advent Begins

God has given us a rich treasure known as the Communion of Saints. This sacred bond extends through the centuries and reaches from heaven to earth, from time through eternity. It may be misunderstood to mean only souls in heaven or the canonized. Actually, three parts make up this communion:  The church on earth, the souls in purgatory and the souls in heaven.

With what love and gratitude we remember many who “have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.” Their loving kindness, helpfulness and example live on in our hearts as models for our conduct and attitudes. We desire to impart their qualities to others and hope that we, too, may leave a legacy of virtues to future generations.

We sense the presence of these holy ones who continue to influence our lives. They may have been parents or other relatives, teachers, neighbors, co-workers, priests, doctors, friends or fellow parishioners. We can still turn to them in prayer for help and encouragement, for counsel and consolation.

At Radio Family Rosary we regularly call on friends of the Program who have been called home to Jesus and Mary.  As we pray to our departed ones, we should also pray for them, because prayers for the faithful departed are never wasted.  Each time we pray the Apostles’ Creed let us be thankful to be part of this sacred bond of love, the Communion of saints.

Pray Daily for the Holy Souls

St. Padre Pio said, “The Holy Souls are eager for
the prayers of the faithful which can gain
indulgences for them. Their intercession is
powerful. Pray unceasingly. We must empty
purgatory!”

St. Gertrude prayed this prayer throughout the
day. Jesus revealed to her that many souls are
released from purgatory each time it is prayed. It is suggested we develop the habit of saying this prayer often:

Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great
for the Holy Souls

Eternal Father, I offer thee the most
Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout
the world today, for all the Holy Souls in
purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for
sinners in the universal church, those in
my own home and within my family.  Amen.
